Lymph drainage may be used for swollen legs and breasts, and for lactation support. Scar massage is available to those with cesarean sections to improve scar appearance and sensitivity.

Lymphatic Drainage

Reduce and manage inflammation due to pain, injury, or lymphatic disorders

This technique is performed using gentle and specific strokes toward the direction of your body's lymph nodes. It is ideal for reducing congestion or pain from trauma and inflammatory conditions. Manual Lymphatic Drainage also promotes a healthy immune system by filtering excess waste in the body. This technique is appropriate for those with an existing diagnosis of lymphedema, acute swelling from sports injuries, pregnancy-related swelling, lower extremity swelling disorders like venous insufficiency, and inflammatory conditions like RA and fibromyalgia.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my private insurance cover my massage?

Unfortunately, this is very rare. We have had success having massages covered by auto insurance after a car accident, but private medical insurance is very fickle. We recommend setting up an HSA or FSA if your company gives you the option.

Can I use my HSA/FSA for massage?

Yes! We will provide all necessary treatment documents and receipts to submit to your HSA/FSA.

How far along in my pregnancy can I start getting massages?

Massage therapy is safe during all trimesters of pregnancy. Early trimester massages may be focused more on anxiety reduction and relaxation. As you get further into your pregnancy, we may utilize deeper techniques or trigger point release to address neck, hip, and low back pain.

Can I get my feet worked on while pregnant?

Yes, massage to your feet is totally safe during pregnancy!

How will you position me for my massage during pregnancy?

We prioritize your safety and comfort throughout your massage. Our pregnancy pillow features a specially designed cutout to accommodate your growing belly and breasts, allowing you to lie face down without any pressure on your baby—a much-needed relief for moms. When it’s time to lie on your back, our state-of-the-art massage table gently reclines you, ensuring no strain on sensitive blood vessels and reducing issues like reflux. For ultimate versatility, we can also position you on your side with the support of plush body pillows. Every detail is tailored to keep you completely supported, relaxed, and safe while you enjoy your massage.

How soon after giving birth can I receive a massage?

We are here to support you as soon as you feel ready for a massage. While some doctors may recommend waiting a certain amount of time, especially after a cesarean birth, we can adapt our approach to meet your needs safely and comfortably. If you’ve had a C-section, we can position you in a reclined position on our state-of-the-art table to ensure your comfort and avoid any strain on your body. Whether you’re looking for relief from tension, swelling, or discomfort, we’re ready to help whenever you’re ready to see us.

Can I bring my newborn to my massage appointment?

Absolutely! We have had many new moms do this to ensure they are able to get the relief they need.

How can postpartum massage help relieve tension from breastfeeding or holding my baby, and address issues like engorged breasts or mastitis?

Postpartum massage includes trigger point release techniques to help relieve tension in your back, neck, and shoulders. Additionally, we are trained to address breast pain, swelling, and discomfort, whether due to engorgement, mastitis, or other breastfeeding demands. We utilize Manual Lymphatic Drainage to gently improve circulation and reduce inflammation, providing relief and supporting the natural healing process. We take a careful and compassionate approach, ensuring your comfort and safety throughout the session.

Do I need my doctor’s permission before getting a massage?

In most cases, prenatal massage is perfectly safe, but if you have any medical concerns or high-risk factors, we recommend consulting your doctor or midwife first. We’re happy to coordinate with your healthcare provider if needed to ensure your safety and peace of mind.

How often should I get a massage while pregnant?

The frequency of massage depends on your needs and how your body feels. Many moms-to-be benefit from monthly massages during the first and second trimesters, increasing to biweekly or even weekly sessions as they near the third trimester and prepare for labor. We can work with you to create a schedule that feels right for your comfort and wellness goals.
